Cliff Diving and a Home Cooked Meal

Sorry I have not posted in a few days, i will not have internet connection for at least another week (when we move into our flats) but as soon as that happens it will be much easier. Anyways this week has been very fun! We've had a series of meetings (information overload) but we don't actually start classes till next monday.

The adjustment is becoming much easier and i am starting to feel a lot more comfortable within the city. I do miss everyone so much, but i have met some amazing people and an so thankful to be here. I wish you could be here to see and experince it with me:) I will do my best to keep blogging and posting so you can get a glimpse of this incredible place.

My feet are still incredibly sore but my legs (and butt) seem to be getting quite strong:) I also feel like i have lost weight from walking so much. Oh and dancing!!! I think i danced four nights in a row. It is very interesting because like i mentioned in an earlier blog, they all play American music. in fact the other night they played the Greese medly mix. Below are some pictures of us dancing. We have also foud a bar that has become our hangout. It's actually an Irish Pub and they serve beer with peach. It is delicious! Below are some pictures of dancing and the Pub. We also had our first group dinner and had a 3 huge course meal.

So the big story of the week! A friend here has connections with someone who lives in Paris. He introduced us to some of his friends here and the last few days have been quite an adventure. yesterday we went on a hike to get to the local beach spot in Marseille. It was beautiful, after we hiked we climbed up some cliffs and dove off. We also got to snorkle a bit and i can not tell you how beatiful the water was. the pictures below show it no justice.

After our long day our friends cooked us a traditional French meal, which i do not know the name of. They are from the mountain region of France near switzerland so the meal they cooked was traditional to their region. They told us that they usually make it when you have a really long day on the mountain. I also tried a special type of liquor specific to the Marseille region. There is a picture of it below. well time is short and i wsh i could write more but i will post again soon. Enjoy for now!

My first pair of French shoes

Hi all,
Sending love and pictures:)

My feet have been killing me so i finally broke down and bought a pair of shoes (as you can see above). Well things are so amazing here, i love it! We have been apartment searching and today we found a cute place. We are naming it the Dungeon because half of it is underground. Some of the pictures are below. We move in on Sept. 1st and i can't wait. It is in the middle of the city so we will no longer have to make a 25 minute walk everyday. :)

Oh so some exciting news!!! I am going to be on TV (haha) if you have ever seen the Asian competition shows it is similar to that. It is a crazy competion between international students. WE get to go to Niece to do it. It is supposed to be broadcasted in the US so i will let everyone know when the time comes.

So if anyone was wondering the non alcoholic drinks are more expensive. Isn't that crazy? Seriously bottled water is like 2-3 euros and wine is only 1!

Well time is short, i will catch you later!

I got my camera...

Adventures in the City

Below are some pictures of my dorm room and the gorgeous view from my window. I still do not have a battery so i took these with my computor.
Okay so our dorms are about a 20-25 minute walk into the city. This means lots of walking. It woud not be so bad but because i decided to look cute (and French) instead of comfortable, i now have several blisters and my feet are not happy with me.
Anyways we decided to go dancing on Friday night, but were not sure where the discotech was. So we walkd around for 2 hours before finding this extremely shaddy underground club. The people were wearing metalica shirts and had long hair as they danced to American 80's music. No joke, they played Ghost Busters, Queen, Video killed the radio store...and more! It was so funny and quite amuzing. I must say that for all the talk about the French hating Americans, i have yet to expereince this. The people here are nice and friendly. I know my biggest challenge is going to be learning the language. I know its a matter of confidence, but it is very intimidating. I have found some people that speak it better than me so i have been hanging out with them. I do understand that i have to break out of my shell eventaully so you will all be proud, i asked for a napkin all by myself :) hehe

We start all our orientations this week and are going to take a trip to Marsille. It is easy to feel overwhelemd so i am taking one day at a time and trying to stay positive. I have been doing yoga a lot and actually found a studio.

Well i guess that is al for now. Till next time....

Day 1

Im here and im exhausted, attempting to type on a French keyboard. The flight was long, but not too bad. The city is beautiful like you are constantly walking through scences from a movie. I can not seem to find the battery for my camera so when it turns up i will post pictures. Take care ill post soon.
